Cotton consumed during the month ending November 30, 1997, amounted to 858,741 bales. Cotton on hand in consuming establishments at the end of November was 569,816 bales, and the total in public storage and in compresses was 10,717,956 bales. Active consuming cotton spindles totaled 5,562,000, and the quantity of domestic cotton exported, excluding linters, was 507,000 bales.
