     Whey Protein Concentrate - Central and Western U.S.

     Whey protein concentrate 34% prices are unchanged. The industry judgment of the WPC 34%
     market tone is that it is in balance. Production is steady. Some manufacturers say they
     would like to make a bit more WPC 34%, but are unable to do so because of obligations for
     other whey protein products. A few processors report strong demand, but they can only
     fulfill added requests if buyers are willing to push back shipments several months.
     Inventories are tight, especially for WPC 34% that meets strict end user specifications. For
     WPC 34% that is interchangeable with other protein sources, there is a bit more available.
     In addition, because nonfat dry milk has resiled to lower price levels, WPC 34%
     manufacturers may find it more difficult to push for strong prices in ancillary markets.
