     Prices for whey protein concentrate 34% again moved lower. The whey protein complex is under
     significant price pressures currently. According to industry contacts, prices for WPC 80%
     have been cut in half within the last year and are now in the low $2 range. And prices for
     whey protein isolates have also fallen to $4 or lower. With low prices and plentiful
     supplies of the higher whey protein concentrations and nonfat dry milk, some end users have
     a lot of dairy protein options to choose from. WPC 34% that is interchangeable with other
     dairy proteins is also abundant, and some processors have lowered offering prices to
     compete. A few industry contacts say they have heard of WPC 34% offers closer to $1.
     Several brands of WPC 34% have been able to maintain their higher prices with customers that
     require additional testing and attributes of their WPC 34% brands. However, demand is a
     sluggish outside of the applications that required a specified WPC 34% supplier. Some
     finished goods producers are trying to clear out the higher cost inventories of whey
     proteins, before adjusting the prices of their consumer goods and making additional whey
     protein purchases. WPC 34% production is stable.

     The January 2023 Dairy Market News average of the mostly price series for Central and West
     whey protein concentrate 34% is $1.6671, compared to $1.7478 last month and $1.4378 one
     year ago.
