MD_DA104 Butter/Butteroil - Europe Report 11 - Released on March 18, 2021 With reports of higher butter prices coming from the primary Western European butter producing countries, Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium and Ireland, the price range moved higher. The butteroil price range is steady to higher. Buyers seeking butter are finding that availability is tighter than they would like. In part, this reflects some manufacturers being deliberate in the pacing of making butter available because they hope for prices to continue firming and feel delayed sales will enhance profits. This is juggled against the exigency of remaining hospitable to regular buyers with current needs. Also, in the mix, there is increasing interest coming from new export customers. The current price premium for Oceania butter over Western European butter has encouraged increased shopping around from buyers typically looking toward Oceania. Western European butter is increasingly a seller’s market.
