MD_DA640 Nonfat Dry Milk - Western U.S. Report 52 - Released on December 29, 2021 In the West, the price range for low/medium heat nonfat dry milk (NDM) is unchanged this week. The mostly price series shifted higher on both ends of the range. Strong demand for low/medium heat NDM is present in domestic markets, while international demand is declining. Market prices for NDM have fallen by 2.25 cents, on the CME, since last Wednesday. Inventories of low/medium heat NDM are tight in the region. Contacts say extreme weather in parts of the region and a shortage of truck drivers are causing delays to deliveries of loads. Production of low/medium heat NDM is steady to lower in the region as labor shortages continue to cause some plant managers to run reduced schedules. Production of high heat NDM is limited, while drying operations are focusing their time on low/medium heat NDM and skim milk powder. The price range for high heat NDM has tightened this week, amid limited trading. Spot inventories of high heat NDM are tight, but in balance with current market demands.
