MD_DA640 Nonfat Dry Milk - Western U.S. Report 32 - Released on August 10, 2023 In the West, prices for low/medium heat nonfat dry milk (NDM) moved higher across all facets of the range and mostly price series. Demand is moderate domestically. Loads are available to accommodate current demand from spot purchasers. Although some stakeholders relay a moderate increase in interest from Mexican buyers, export demand is on the lighter side. Heat levels throughout the region have negatively impacted milk production, and handlers relay milk components are seasonally trending down. However, some manufacturers report drying schedules stay focused on low/medium heat NDM. High heat NDM prices moved higher on the bottom end and were unchanged on the top end of the range. Demand is moderate. Some manufacturers indicate a start of high heat NDM production earlier than Q4. Loads are available to meet current demand. The July 2023 DMN monthly average for the West low/medium heat nonfat dry milk (NDM) mostly series is $1.1113, compared to $1.1576 a month ago. The average for Western high heat NDM is $1.2746, compared to $1.3218 a month ago.
