     Nonfat Dry Milk - Western U.S.

     Demand for low/medium heat nonfat dry milk (NDM) is steady in both domestic and
     international markets. Stakeholders say that international pricing for skim milk powder is
     trending lower and contributing to weaker export demand for low/medium heat NDM.
     Stakeholders say that spot inventories of low/medium heat NDM are available throughout the
     region. Milk is available for drying operations to run busy schedules in the region.
     Production of low/medium heat NDM is steady; some plant managers relay that labor shortages
     are preventing them from running busier schedules. Prices for high heat NDM followed
     low/medium heat lower this week. Stakeholders say that demand is constrained, but unchanged
     from recent weeks. Contacts report that spot inventories are extremely tight and production
     is limited, as plant managers favor the shorter drying times of low/medium heat.

     The April 2022 Dairy Market News monthly average for the West low/medium heat nonfat dry
     milk (NDM) mostly series is $1.8242 compared to $1.2010 a year ago. The average for Western
     high heat NDM is $1.9769 compared to $1.3496 a year ago.
