MD_DA640 Nonfat Dry Milk - Western U.S. Report 31 - Released on August 03, 2023 In the West, prices for low/medium heat nonfat dry milk (NDM) moved slightly lower across all facets of the range and mostly price series. Domestic demand is moderate. Supplies are available to accommodate current demand from spot purchasers. Export demand from Mexican buyers is steady and South American buyers show more interest. Export demand elsewhere is lighter. Throughout the region heat levels are negatively impacting milk production, and handlers relay milk components are holding up better in the northern parts of the region. However, manufacturers report focusing drying schedules on the shorter times for low/medium heat NDM. A few manufacturers indicate a greater focus on skim milk powder production than nonfat dry milk production. High heat NDM prices had slight upward movement on the bottom end and held firm on the top end of the range. Demand is moderate. Some manufacturers indicate holding off high heat NDM production until Q4. Loads are available to meet current spot and contractual demand.
