MD_DA640 Nonfat Dry Milk - Western U.S. Report 34 - Released on August 26, 2021 Low/medium heat nonfat dry milk (NDM) prices held steady at the top of the range, while falling by $0.01 at the bottom, in the West. The mostly price series saw similar movement, with the bottom of the series slipping $0.005 lower this week. Demand for low/medium heat NDM has held steady across both domestic and international markets. Contacts report steady demand for export to Mexico. A shortage of truck drivers and limited available shipping supplies continue to cause delays to loads, throughout the region. Inventories of low/medium heat NDM are available for spot purchasing. Production of low/medium heat NDM is, reportedly, lighter this week. Milk production is declining, seasonally. Labor shortages are causing some plant managers to run lighter production schedules. The top of the high heat NDM price range is unchanged, while the bottom fell by $0.015. High heat inventories, while limited, are in balance with current market demands. Production of high heat NDM is restricted, as plant managers focus on low/medium heat.
