     Nonfat Dry Milk - Western U.S.

     Low/medium heat nonfat dry milk (NDM) prices, in the West, trended higher across both the
     range and the mostly price series. Contacts report that higher demand for skim milk powder
     (SMP) and strengthening prices for SMP, particularly in Asian markets, have assisted in
     pushing NDM prices higher. On the CME, market prices have settled in the mid-1.30s through
     the start of this shortened holiday week. Dairy protein markets have begun to firm up,
     leaving producers confident with current NDM pricing. Demand for low/medium heat NDM has
     held steady in both domestic and international markets. Contacts report notable purchasing
     of loads for export to Mexico. Inventories of low/medium heat are tight, some spot
     purchasers are, reportedly, having difficulty obtaining loads. Drying operations are running
     busy schedules, as milk continues to be available for production. The price range for high
     heat NDM shifted higher this week. Demand is steady, while inventories of high heat have
     remained tight. Production is limited, as plant managers continue to favor the production of
     low/medium heat.

     The August 2021 Dairy Market News monthly average for the West low/medium heat nonfat dry
     milk mostly series is $1.2523 compared to $0.9799 a year ago. The average for Western high
     heat nonfat dry milk is $1.3991 compared to $1.1096 a year ago.
