The Rice Outlook for January 2018 was released by the Economic Research Service, and is available on Mann Library link

The Rice Outlook report was reposted to correct the sentence on page 5 (the last sentence before the subheading) that describes the medium- and short-grain ending stocks forecast.  The correct description is “The 2017/18 medium- and short-grain ending stocks forecast was lowered 1.7 million cwt to 9.3 million cwt, down 19 percent from a year earlier.”


In this month’s report:


•	India's 2017 and 2018 rice exports are projected at a record 12.0 million tons.

•	The Philippines' 2017/18 rough-rice production forecast was raised to a record 19.0 million tons.

•	The U.S. 2017/18 long-grain season-average farm price was lowered to $11.30-$12.30 per cwt
