United States and Canadian Hog Inventory Up Slightly United States and Canadian inventory of all hogs and pigs for June 2025 was 89.0 million head. This was up slightly from June 2024 and up 2 percent from June 2023. The breeding inventory, at 7.20 million head, was down slightly from a year ago, and down 3 percent from 2023. Market hog inventory, at 81.8 million head, was up slightly from last year and up 2 percent from 2023. The semi-annual pig crop, at 83.0 million head, was up 1 percent from 2024 and up 2 percent from 2023. Sows farrowing during this period totaled 7.04 million head, down 1 percent from last year and down 1 percent from 2023. United States inventory of all hogs and pigs on June 1, 2025 was 75.1 million head. This was up slightly from June 1, 2024 and up 1 percent from March 1, 2025. The breeding inventory, at 5.98 million head, was down slightly from last year, and down slightly from the previous quarter. Market hog inventory, at 69.2 million head, was up slightly from last year, and up 1 percent from last quarter. The pig crop, at 34.2 million head, was up 1 percent from 2024 and up 2 percent from 2023. Sows farrowing during this period totaled 2.91 million head, down slightly from 2024 and down 1 percent from 2023. Canadian inventory of all hogs and pigs on July 1, 2025 was 13.8 million head. This was down 1 percent from July 1, 2024 but slightly up from July 1, 2023. The breeding inventory, at 1.22 million head, was down slightly from last year and down 1 percent from 2023. Market hog inventory, at 12.6 million head, was down 1 percent from last year but slightly up from 2023. The semi- annual pig crop, at 15.1 million head, was up 1 percent from 2024, and up slightly from 2023. Sows farrowing during this period totaled 1.24 million head, down slightly from last year and down 1 percent from 2023.
