ending January 05, 12 and 19, 2019 in that order in thousand hundredweight
(cwt) or 100,000 pound units. Expected movement is for the period January 
20 – February 02, 2019. Prices are for Tuesday, January 22, 2019 compared 
to Monday, January 14, 2019. Unless otherwise stated, sales are F.O.B. 
Shipping Point Basis (including Delivered Sales, F.O.B. Shipping Point 
Basis) or port of entry and extra services are included. Prices represent 
open (spot) market sales by first handlers on product of generally good 
quality and condition unless otherwise stated and may include promotional 
allowances or other incentives. No consideration is given to after-sale

shipping areas for the week, in order, were Columbia Basin Washington, 
Idaho and Malheur County Oregon, Peru, New York and Utah. The Market News 
Service survey of over 30,000 retail stores had 12,646 ads for onions last 
week, which is a 3 percent increase from last weeks ads of 12,268.
   IDAHO AND MALHEUR COUNTY OREGON---Shipments 272-463-433---Movement 
expected to remain about the same. Trading White very active, Yellow fairly 
active, Red moderate. Prices Yellow medium generally unchanged, others

   NEW BRUNSWICK (CROSSINGS THROUGH MAINE POINTS)---Shipments fairly 
light---Movement expected about the same. Trading slow. Prices unchanged.  
Canada No.1 or U.S. 1 Russet Norkotah/Other Varieties 2 inch or 4-ounce 
minimum baled 10 5-pound sacks 12.00-12.50, 5 10-pound sacks 11.00-11.50.  
According to the January 1, 2019 Potato Stocks released by Agriculture 
and Agri-Food Canada, New Brunswick's holdings of 10.3 million cwt are 
7% below one year earlier (11.1 million cwt.)  Stocks by intended 
utilization include 1.2 million cwt. for fresh usage, 7.2 million cwt. 
for processing and 1.7 million cwt for seed usage.  This estimate puts 
fresh usage down 16% from one year earlier.  Total Canadian stocks of 
66.4 million cwt are 7.23% less than one year ago (71.6 million cwt.).
