     Fluid Milk and Cream - Central U.S.

     Report 52 - Released on December 26, 2019

     Farm milk output is steady to increasing. Dairy farmer contacts say numbers look similar to
     last year's. That said, the number of dairy farms continue to slide this year. Bottlers are
     taking time off, and cheesemakers are getting a lot of spot milk offers. As some Class III
     producers take extra time off, others are taking on a heavy volume of milk at a discount.
     Reported prices ranged from $8 to $2 under Class. Cream is also widely available. Cream
     multiples are down quite a bit week over week, but this is not atypical during the last week
     (s) of the year. Butter makers, like cheese producers, vary when it comes to allotted time
     off during the end-of-year holidays. Some butter makers are churning and packing away for
     spring holidays. Corn harvest remains delayed for some farmers, who simply have not been
     able to get into wet fields.
