Combined U.S. Fall Potatoes and Canadian Potatoes Up 1 Percent from 2006 This publication is the result of a joint effort by Statistics Canada and USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) to publish potato production for both countries in one report. U.S. 2007 fall potato production was released January 11, 2008 and Canadian production and utilization was released January 18, 2008. The 2007 fall potato production for the U.S. and Canada combined is estimated at 519 million cwt, up slightly from the November forecast and up 1 percent from 2006. The U.S. fall potato production is estimated at 409 million cwt, virtually unchanged from the U.S. December forecast but up 3 percent from last year. Canada's potato growers harvested 110 million cwt, virtually unchanged from Canada's November forecast but 2 percent below 2006.
