MD_DA751 Casein - National Casein Report for U.S. Imports Report 37 - Released on September 15, 2022 Acid casein prices are unchanged this week. Contacts say acid casein production lines are running at capacity, yet demand needs from both domestic and Asian importers are keeping prices firm. Rennet casein prices, though, shifted noticeably higher. As has been mentioned in previous reports, processing costs in the European Union, namely energy costs, have jumped in the last few months. Domestic importers are willing to pay up in order to secure needed inventories. Some U.S. contacts suggest that prices could continue higher moving into the fourth quarter, as contractual agreements are going to evolve based on limited milk availability, increasing costs of both processing and shipping.
