MD_DA751 Casein - National Casein Report for U.S. Imports Report 44 - Released on November 04, 2021 The seasonal and situational tightness of acid and casein supplies is reflected in higher prices for each. European rennet casein production is seasonally low. Ireland remains as the country buyers will most likely find available stocks. Most customers are contracted for 2021 and into early 2022. Upward price pressure is thought to be from last minute customers in spot markets. New Zealand casein production schedules are slowed in some plants. Milk production lagging last year has cut into availability for casein, continuing to keep casein production lower than had been expected. This has resulted in delays in filling some contracts. Some buyers facing delayed deliveries from manufacturers are sounding out traders to source some casein for near term needs. Most 2021 acid casein production is already committed. Contracting for Q1 2022 is well along.
