MD_DA751 Casein - National Casein Report for U.S. Imports Report 18 - Released on May 05, 2022 This week introduced no new changes to casein prices for rennet or acid. The outlook remains similar though. Demand is ever-present, while supplies are quite limited for domestic end users. Some producers report working on loads of rennet casein for delivery in the early summer months, which is likely going to be spoken for prior to completion. Those producers expect it to continue to move the price needle upward, though, based on supply/demand. Current trading activity, though, is very limited. European production is expected to pick up seasonally, as New Zealand's is seasonally declining. All said, as contractual fulfillments are being worked out, bearish expectations affecting other global powder markets currently are not having the same impact on casein markets, according to contacts. The DMN monthly average price for rennet casein in April was $5.1695, compared to $5.1122 in March. The April average price for acid casein was $6.5650, compared to $6.4363 in March.
