     Casein - National Casein Report for U.S. Imports

     Acid casein prices moved lower at the top of the range, while the bottom was unchanged.
     Contacts report mixed demand for acid casein from Oceania. Some say acid casein interest has
     started to pick up as recent declines in prices have spurred some market participants to
     purchaser more loads. Meanwhile, others relay soft demand for acid casein, and note a
     particular lack of demand in international markets. Inventories of acid casein are available
     to meet spot demand. In Oceania, increasing milk volumes are contributing to an uptick in
     acid casein production. The price range for rennet casein held steady this week. Contacts in
     Europe say spot market sales of rennet casein remain soft. Industry sources indicate lighter
     production in Europe, due to declining milk output, is keeping rennet casein inventories
     balanced with demand.

     The August 2023 Dairy Market News average of the range price series for rennet casein was
     $4.4739 compared to $4.5000 a month ago. The August average price for acid casein was
     $4.3120, compared to $4.7038 a month ago.
