MD_DA751 Casein - National Casein Report for U.S. Imports Report 12 - Released on March 21, 2019 Rennet and acid casein prices are higher. Market supply tightness is a factor more widely evident this week. Supplies available from the EU are tighter. That, coupled with tighter late season supplies in New Zealand, has sent pricing higher to get deals closed for available casein stocks. Although the EU is a significant casein producing region, supply tightness there is illustrated by noting that casein imports during January 2019 compared with January 2018, increased at a higher percentage than exports from the EU. The United States is the largest customer for EU casein exports.
