     Casein - National Casein Report for U.S. Imports

     This is a slow time of year in casein markets, especially in New Zealand. Prices for acid
     casein and rennet casein are steady, reflecting the slow trading. Regular buyers generally
     plan to be contracted for anticipated needs. This keeps spot markets quiet. New production
     tends to be available from the EU at this time of year, more likely to be rennet than acid
     casein. New Zealand production is awaiting increased milk availability.

     Restricted, All Mesh Sizes, Conventional, and Edible Casein

     New Zealand casein(ate) exports January – June 2020, 47,352 MT, increased 4.2 percent from
     January – June 2019, according to Eucolait. The main export destinations January - June
     2020, quantities, and percents of the total, were United States, 14,114 MT, 29.8 percent;
     China, 9,066 MT, 19.2 percent; and EU, 4,732 MT, 10 percent.
