MD_DA751 Casein - National Casein Report for U.S. Imports Report 14 - Released on April 07, 2022 Casein prices were mostly steady this week, with the only price change being an increase on the bottom of the rennet casein price range. Market tones are somewhat quiet, based on limited casein availability in Europe, New Zealand, and South America. South American production is being pulled between rennet and acid processing due to continued demand for both varieties. In New Zealand, production is steady week to week, but based upon tighter overall milk availability. Overall, casein market tones remain on terra firma, based on demand pulls from both U.S. and global customers and generally lighter milk supplies across the continents. The DMN monthly average price for rennet casein in March was $5.1122, compared to $4.999 in February. The March average price for acid casein was $6.4363, compared to $5.9440 in February.
