     Casein - National Casein Report for U.S. Imports

     Report 30 - Released on July 27, 2023

     Rennet casein prices were unchanged this week, while both ends of the acid casein price
     range slid lower. Industry sources indicate extreme temperatures in parts of Europe are
     having a significant impact on milk production. Contacts report this has contributed to a
     decline in rennet casein production. In Oceania and South America, acid casein production
     remains light, though industry sources indicate milk production typically increases in
     August, which may contribute to increased acid casein output. Rennet casein spot market
     activity is limited. Despite the recent decline in rennet casein production, stakeholders
     say inventories are sufficient to meet current market demands. Contacts report soft demand
     for acid casein and say loads remain available for spot purchasing.
