SJ_GR851 St. Joseph, MO Fri May 17, 2019 USDA-MO Dept of Ag Market News WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW Compared to last week, cash bids for wheat were mostly higher; corn, sorghum and soybeans were sharply higher. Ethanol production for week ending May 10th totaled 1.051 million barrels per day, a 15,000 barrel increase when compared to the week prior. Ethanol stocks were at 22.2 mb this week. Monday's planting progress report for w/e 5/12/2019 revealed that planting pace for corn is now 29 percent behind a year ago and 36 percent behind the the 5 year average. Soybean acres planted are 23 percent behind a year ago and 20 percent behind the 5 year average. Days suitable for fieldwork have been less that desirable for a considerable amount of the US this spring. Export sales for week ending May 9 totaled 21.8 million bushels of corn; 13.6 million bushels of soybeans and 4.2 million bushels of wheat. Wheat was 5 cents lower to 38 cents higher. Corn was 16 1/4 cents to 28 3/4 cents higher. Sorghum was 46 cents to 56 cents higher. Soybeans were 17 cents to 39 cents higher. WHEAT: Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was 14 to 23 cents higher from 5.26 3/4-5.45 3/4 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 Soft Red winter rail bid was not quoted. St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red Winter terminal bid was 38 cents higher at 4.97 per bushel. Minneapolis and Duluth US No 1 Dark Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent protein rail, was not quoted. Portland US Soft White wheat rail was 5 cents lower to 10 cents higher from 5.70-5.95 per bushel. CORN: Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 16 1/4 to 17 3/4 cents higher from 3.79 3/4-3.91 3/4 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 22 3/4 to 25 3/4 cents higher from 3.69-3.85 per bushel. Omaha US No 2 Yellow Corn was 21 to 23 cents higher from 3.71-3.72 per bushel. Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 26 3/4 to 27 3/4 cents higher from 3.77-3.79 per bushel. Toledo US No 2 rail Yellow corn was 25 3/4 to 28 3/4 cents higher from 3.62-3.75 per bushel. Minneapolis US No 2 Yellow corn rail was has no comparison at 3.35 per bushel. OATS AND BARLEY: US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20 day was 3 1/4 to 12 1/4 cents higher from 3.06 1/4-3.54 1/4 per bushel. US No 3 or better rail malting Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was not quoted. Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and Barges-export was not quoted. SORGHUM: US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 46 cents higher at 6.23 per cwt. Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the farmer, fob elevator) was 46 to 56 cents higher from 6.05-6.86 per cwt. OILSEEDS: Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans were 39 cents higher at 7.81 3/4 per bushel. Illinois Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 27 to 29 cents higher from 8.07 3/4-8.14 3/4 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 Yellow truck soybeans were 17 to 27 cents higher from 7.89 3/4-8.04 3/4 per bushel. Illinois 48 percent soybean meal, processor rail bid was 12.80 higher from 296.90-300.90 per bushel. Central Illinois Crude Soybean oil processor bid was 1.09 higher from 27.12-27.32 per cwt.
