Overview of the U. S. Hog Industry

This report provides a commentary on the changes in the composition and structure of the U. S. hog breeding herd by size of operation and efficiency of the breeding herd in comparison with historical trends. In addition, Information on inventory, annual pig crop, slaughter weights, dressing percent, value, imports, litter rate, farrowing, and gross income is also contained within this report. Data was collected from hog operations via probability surveys, and estimates were prepared by the Agricultural Statistics Board.
