Usual Planting and Harvesting Dates for Fresh Market and Processing Vegetables

This handbook identifies the usual planting and harvesting dates for fresh market and processing vegetables as well as principal producing counties and major varieties for the vegetables covered in the National Agricultural Statistics Service's national program of crop estimates. It updates the information contained in the previous edition of this handbook issued 1977.

The Field Offices of the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service compiled the basic information, prepared the estimates of usual dates, and designated the important areas of production and major varieties for their respective States. Growers and horticultural specialists were consulted to verify information published.
