  • Agricultural Chemical Usage - Cattle and Cattle Facilities

    This report provides insecticide use information on the dairy cattle sector of agriculture. All data refer to the on-farm use of active ingredients contained in insecticides applied during the 1999 calendar year. Data is provided in a rate per head per application and rate per head per year format. Insecticides are applied to cattle and cattle facilities to control mange/mites, lice, flies, and other pests. Pharmaceutical products that treat cattle specifically for internal pests are excluded from the report, however dual purpose products that treat both external and internal pests and can be applied externally are included. Additionally, information on chemical insecticide applications made to cattle facilities is also provided in the report.

  • Agricultural Chemical Usage - Chemical Distribution Rate

    This publication provides details about the distribution of agricultural chemical active ingredients commonly applied to selected field and vegetable crops. It presents data on acreage treated with herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and other pesticides. This report expands upon the information presented in the Agricultural Chemical Usage 2004 Field Crops Summary published in May 2005 and in the Agricultural Chemical Usage 2004 Vegetable Summary published in July 2005. Chemicals are listed by active ingredient, and distribution rates are described by Percent of Acres Treated, Number of Applications, Rate per Application, and Rate per Crop Year, and is organized by designated groups of crop-specific Program States.

  • Agricultural Chemical Usage - Fruit and Vegetable Agricultural Practices

    This report contains the results of two independent surveys of growing and packing practices of fruits and vegetables. Growers were surveyed on field environment, agricultural water, organic fertilizers, harvest-field operations, harvest workers, and trace back systems. Packers were surveyed for information pertaining to packing workers, field packing, facility packing, and trace back systems. Almost all data in the report is presented in the form of percent of the total (grower or packer) population. Grower data is presented in "Percent of Farms" reporting an agricultural practice and the "Percent of Acres" on which this practice is applied, while packer data is presented in "Percent of Packers" and "Percent of Volume."

  • Agricultural Chemical Usage - Fruits

    This release includes statistics for on-farm use of agricultural chemicals and pest management practices from producers of targeted fruit crops in major producing states. The survey population consisted of fruit and berry growers and the survey was intended to provide estimates of chemical usage at the state level. On non-survey year, acreage is based on trends, county extension service data, end of year production surveys, and other indicators.   • Agricultural Chemical Usage - Livestock and General Farm Use

    This report is a chemical use survey issued by the National Agricultural Statistics Service on livestock and reports on insecticide use information on dairy cattle and dairy facilities in 17 selected states. Active ingredients classified by the Environmental Protection Agency as pesticides are included in the report. Pharmaceutical products for internal pests are excluded, but dual purpose products that can be applied internally or externally are included. Chemical use data is provided on a rate per head per application and rate per head per year basis. However, there is significant variation based on product formulation, method of application, and pest condition. Insecticide use information on dairy facilities (applied for the control of insects and pests only) is also included in the report.

  • Agricultural Chemical Usage - Restricted Use

    This annual report provides statistical information pertaining to the on-farm use of restricted use pesticides. The agricultural chemical use estimates in this report are based on data compiled from the Agricultural Resource Management Survey (ARMS), Conservation Effects Assessment Project (CEAP), and the Vegetable Chemical Use Survey. The report data is grouped by Program States, and contains surveys of chemical application on cotton and apple crops. The data is summarized by product, and only application data for active ingredients which are part of a restricted use pesticide are included in the report.

  • Agricultural Chemical Usage - Sheep and Sheep Facilities

    This release includes information on insecticides applied to sheep and sheep facilities. Insecticides are applied to sheep and sheep facilities to control mange/mites, lice, flies, and other pests. The 22 major sheep producing States, accounting for over 80 percent of total U.S. sheep inventory, are included in this release. Please note the change in program scope from 2000 to 2010; the 2001 release included all sheep and sheep facilities, the 2011 chemical use data release excluded feedlots and operations with less than 20 ewes. Internal use pharmaceutical products are excluded from the report, but dual purpose products that can be applied internally or externally are included. Insecticide use information on chemical applications to sheep facilities are also included in the report. Insecticide use information on chemical applications to swine facilities (excluding rodenticides and termite applications) are also included in the report.

    A publication that covered current events, developments, research, extension, and teaching issues in farm credit, insurance, taxation and general agricultural finance. Was published between 1938 and 1995 by the United States Department of Agriculture and from 1996 to 2008 by Cornell University. Articles contained in the publication were contributed by scholars in the field and refereed by peers. Started as an annual publication, it transitioned to publication twice per year, in fall and spring.

  • Agricultural Income and Finance Situation and Outlook

    Compares the income and financial outlook for the U.S farm sector, farm businesses, and farm households in December 2010 with the outlook in December 2011. Chapter 1 of the report outlines the farm income outlook and drivers (e.g. production expenses, payments to stakeholders) that affect U.S. farm operations earnings. Chapter 2 discusses farm households and their economic well-being based off income, assets, debt, and net worth. Chapter 3 discusses projections of farm enterprise income based off of application of sector level forecasts to Agricultural Resource Management Survey (ARMS) data. Chapter 4 discusses the financial position of the agricultural sector in terms of farm asset values and farm sector debt.

    This yearly full-text report provides data on the average agricultural land values. Includes, by state and region, average value per acre for farm real estate (farmland and buildings), irrigated and non-irrigated cropland, and pastureland. Estimates are based mainly on the June Area Survey, and utilizes approximately 11,000 one square mile segments of land. Land is grouped by economic regions: Northeast, Lake States, Corn Belt, Northern Plains, Appalachian, Southeast, Delta States, Southern Plains, Mountain, and Pacific.

  • Agricultural Land Values and Cash Rents - Final Estimates

    This bulletin contains the final estimates for agricultural land values, including the average value per acre for farm real estate, cropland, irrigated and non-irrigated farmland, and pasture, as well as the real estate value of farm buildings. Land value estimates are published annually, and Census figures are used to benchmark farm real estate values. This series contains data from years 1994 to 2013.
